LIFE GREENLYSIS project, led by Cetaqua, obtained the Honour Award in the category Applied Research in the IWA Project Innovation Awards 2014 in Europe and West Asia. The award, recognised at international level, is given by the International Water Association (IWA).

The awarded projects at global level will be published in the IWA World Water Congress, which will take place from 21st to 26th September in Lisbon (Portugal). They are chosen from all the winners in the different categories and regions.

The main objective of the LIFE GREENLYSIS project is setting a pilot plant in order to demonstrate the technical feasibility of reducing both the energy consumption and the environmental footprint of a WWTP, producing hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis by renewable energies. The project, started in January 2010 and finished in December 2012, installed a pilot plant in the WWTP of Montornès del Vallès (Barcelona). With a budget of 1.3M€, Cetaqua’s partners have been SUEZ-CIRSEE and SAFT Baterías.
